The ab doer was originally released to the public in 1997. At the time, infomercials flooded channels and many, many people bought the product. The new ab doer twist, released in 2009 as a product by the same name (with a twist), is advertised as an improved version of the ab doer product. It is advertised as an ab machine for all body types and levels of fitness.
The ab doer twist is made of higher gauge steel and appears to be solid looking. The product come with many resistance levels. If the default resistance levels aren’t enough, higher resistance levels may be purchased as an accessory. The arm bars are advertised as ergonomically designed. They are supposed to decrease the stress on some problem areas in the upper body (wrists, shoulders, neck, elbows, etc.) The back portion of the machine is where the resistance rods are kept and where the resistance comes from. Also on the back portion of the machine is a massage roller that covers the bar that holds the resistance rods. The massage roller is advertised as giving you a therapeutic massage every time you workout. The seat comes with cushion to provide comfort while performing abdominal exercises.
When sitting in the ab doer twist it is advertised that you are sitting in a correctly aligned and stable position (free of any unnecessary stress). To use the machine, you simply set the resistance level you wish use during your exercise session and begin performing the suggested movements that are provided on dvd with the machine.
The machine is easy to assemble because it’s not a very complex ab exerciser. There isn’t a whole lot of parts. The machine is very easy to put up because it folds up into a flatter position that is easily stored.
From reading the reviews on Amazon, it appears that this product is especially liked by older people as well as those people with physical limitations while working out such as back problems or shoulder problems. The most common reason for a negative review was that someone did not feel the resistance levels that came with the machine were enough and did not want to pay for the higher resistance levels. They felt like it should come with the machine.
